It might not be the number of e-mails
clogging your in-box that is causing you stress, but how often you
check, indicates a 2014 study published in Computers in Human Behavior.
When researchers asked students and professionals to read and respond
to e-mail just three times a day, their stress levels dropped.
Constantly being available on e-mail reduces your sense of control, says
study coauthor Kostadin Kushlev, a Ph.D. student at the University of
Virginia.
